An experienced and dedicated leader is sought for the position of Under Treasurer at the Department of Treasury and Finance.
The department is the state’s pre-eminent economic and financial policy advisor. It is at the centre of government decision making, managing the finances and procurement of the public sector as well as formulating and implementing the annual State Budget.
This newly shaped department is part of the Public Sector Reform 2025 that aims to deliver on the WA Government’s goals of job creation through economic diversification, local manufacturing and energy transition; delivery of hospitals and other major infrastructure; and the building of houses across WA.
As the Under Treasurer you are responsible to the Treasurer and Minister for Finance for the efficient and effective management of the department. You prepare the State Budget and advise the Treasurer, Minister for Finance and government on fiscal strategy, revenue policy, public sector wages policy and Commonwealth-State financial relations. You monitor developments in the state, national and global economies and asses their implications for WA’s major sources of revenue. You also undertake revenue assessment and collection for a range of statutory based revenue streams. You strategise the department’s direction and play a major role in shaping the direction of the public sector.
To be successful in this position, you will have a high level of strategic acumen, exceptional relationship building skills, outstanding negotiation and influencing abilities, and an established track record of delivering on strategic priorities. You will be an outstanding leader with high integrity and significant experience in leading in culturally informed ways, building high achieving teams and organisational cultures, and forecasting future needs of the community.
This is a fixed term position of up to 5 years with an attractive remuneration package.
