The College leads in diagnostic, interventional, cancer care, and radiation medicine, supporting its Fellows and trainees through education, advocacy, and a commitment to clinical excellence.
Reporting to the RANZCR President and working closely with the CEO, the Independent Chairperson will lead a Board of eight directors (including one independent director and seven fellow directors), help in setting the College's strategic direction, including workforce evolution, technological transformation, specialist education refinements, the continued advancement of patient-centred cancer and imaging services across the region and ensure the highest standards of corporate governance. RANZCR operates a contemporary governance model in which the elected President provides overall professional and member leadership, while the Independent Chair leads the Board's governance, effectiveness and performance.
The role requires an average commitment of up to half a day per week.
Essential criteria:
- Experience leading boards through periods of organisational transformation, governance reform, regulatory scrutiny, or significant stakeholder engagement.
- Previous board experience, ideally in a chair or senior director capacity.
- Demonstrated governance experience, including a strong understanding of a director's legal, ethical, fiduciary, and financial responsibilities. Completion of the AICD Company Directors Course (or equivalent track record) is highly regarded.

- Governance experience within a member-based not-for-profit organisation would be well regarded.
This is an opportunity to chair the board of one of Australia and New Zealand’s most influential specialist medical colleges, helping shape the future of medical imaging, radiation oncology and cancer care while supporting high standards of professional practice and patient outcomes across Australia, New Zealand and Singapore.
