The Disability Trust
Group Chief Executive Officer
Flexible Location - Based Illawarra / South Coast NSW / Sydney

The Disability Trust is one of Australia’s leading for-purposes organisations, with a rich history of disability advocacy and the provision of world class person-centred support. We have been supporting people with disability and their families for over 50 years, originally providing services across regional NSW and more recently growing our footprint so we now also support clients across ACT, Qld and Vic. As part of our growth strategy, we integrated three new entities into the group in 2024: ermha365, Marriott Support Services and OC Connections, further expanding our range of services and developing our Victorian footprint.

We are recognised nationally as a highly trusted organisation which drives measurable impact for the communities we serve. We are at an exciting point in our evolution, with an ambitious growth strategy, through both organic and M&A activity, which will see us expand into new areas, drive greater efficiencies in our operating models and ultimately provide the most sustainable and effective services for our clients. The organisation is led by an experienced Board, a Group CEO (CEO) and an established Executive team. Due to recent changes, we are now seeking a new Group CEO to lead the organisation on its next stage.

Reporting to the Board Chair, the CEO will manage an annual budget of c$250m, a complex asset base of $130m and a team of over 3,200. Building on the strong reputation of The Disability Trust within the community, and working in close partnership with the Board, the CEO will lead with a clear and unwavering commitment to people with disability. The CEO will champion the organisation’s mission of creating an inclusive world built on trust, respect and equality, where people with a disability live the life they choose. Through values-driven and person-centred leadership, the CEO will ensure a sustainable and commercially sound future that enables The Disability Trust to grow, innovate and deliver impactful, high-quality services. The CEO will explore new service areas through organic growth, merger and acquisition activity and partnerships whilst fostering a culture that places the rights, aspirations and voices of people with disability at the heart of decision-making, service delivery and strategic direction. The CEO will advocate for the sector at senior levels across State and Commonwealth government and the broader health and human services sector.

We are seeking an accomplished and transformational CEO with experience of the human services or a closely adjacent sector. You will have a track record of success within a large, complex and geographically dispersed organisation and demonstrate high levels of innovation and growth through a combination of strategy, structure, technology and people. You will possess excellent finance, governance and asset management skills and have led teams which have created world class client outcomes. You will have an affinity for the sector and for the human rights of people who access our wide range of services. Experience working effectively with government stakeholders and a Board is important, as is an understanding of contemporary philanthropy and fundraising models.

We encourage people from different backgrounds to apply, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and people living with disability.

This represents a unique opportunity for a growth oriented and values led leader to join our organisation at an exciting time in our evolution, helping to shape the future of the organisation, the team and the broader ecosystem, and delivering world class services for individuals, families and communities.
