The Australian Sports Commission (ASC) is the Australian Government agency responsible for supporting and investing in sport at all levels. Its role is to increase involvement in sport and enable continued international sporting success through leadership and development of a cohesive and effective sports sector, targeted financial support and the operation of the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS).

The General Manager, Technology provides the strategic leadership and oversight of the ASC’s technology, digital platforms and data ecosystems. The role drives digital transformation, ensures robust ICT capability and cybersecurity and delivers innovative, sector-leading digital solutions that enable the ASC and the Australian sporting sector to thrive.

Leading a team of 53 with a contractor pool of another 20 or so, the GM Technology is accountable for setting and delivering the ASC’s digital vision in alignment with the organisation’s strategic priorities and whole-of-government directions. You will lead development and implementation of a whole of agency Technology and Digital Strategy, ensuring alignment with ASC’s Strategic Vision 2032, enterprise architecture and government priorities. As a member of the ASC Executive, you will provide authoritative, high-level advice, reports and briefings to the CEO, ASC Board, and Government stakeholders on technology, digital, data and cybersecurity matters.
Success in this role requires strategic foresight, executive influence, and collaborative engagement across the senior leadership team.

We are seeking someone who can demonstrate:
  • Senior executive leadership in digital and ICT strategy within a multi-disciplinary organisation, preferably with national reach and/or public sector accountability.
  • Success with enterprise level digital change programs that delivered measurable improvements in efficiency, user experience, and public value.
  • Deep expertise in enterprise architecture, digital transformation, cloud strategy, cybersecurity, and interoperability across integrated platforms.
  • Strong experience spanning infrastructure, applications, data, and security, with the ability to align technical operations to long-term strategic outcomes.
  • Experience designing, delivering, and scaling digital platforms and services for external users and stakeholders, ideally within regulatory, compliance, or performance-driven environments.
  • Commitment to accessibility, inclusion, and human-centred design in digital service delivery.
  • Experience cultivating effective partnerships across government, industry, and stakeholders to drive innovation and whole-of-sector value.
  • Proven experience leading large, multi-disciplinary digital and ICT teams, with accountability for strategic planning, budgets, procurement, and workforce development.
  • Strong understanding of Australian Government digital policy and governance frameworks.

You will be required to travel and / or be present in the Canberra office of the ASC on a regular basis to fulfil role responsibilities.
