South Western Sydney Primary Health Network (SWSPHN) is one of 31 Primary Health Networks across Australia and one of ten in NSW, servicing seven local government areas: Bankstown, Fairfield, Liverpool, Campbelltown, Camden, Wollondilly and Wingecarribee. SWSPHN is a not-for-profit organisation funded by the Australian Government. With a population of more than 1.27m people – projected to reach nearly 1.6m by 2041 – South Western Sydney is one of Australia's most vibrant, culturally diverse and fastest-growing regions. SWSPHN plays a critical role in linking GPs, practice nurses, allied health professionals, hospitals and aged care providers, ensuring care is integrated and shaped around the needs of the individual.
The current CEO has led SWSPHN with distinction since 2017 and has made the decision to retire later this year. The Board is now seeking their successor – an exceptional leader to guide the organisation into its next chapter. Reporting to the Board through the Chair, and leading a senior executive team, the CEO will:
SWSPHN is seeking to recruit an experienced executive leader from within the broad health or human services setting for appointment to the role of incoming CEO. You will bring a proven track record of executive leadership in a complex, stakeholder-rich environment, with demonstrated capability in managing government funding frameworks, navigating Commonwealth and State health policy, and delivering measurable outcomes through collaboration. A genuine affinity for the communities served by SWSPHN is essential. Experience as a CEO is preferred, although strong step-up candidates will be considered.

- Provide strategic and executive leadership to achieve SWSPHN's vision, strategic objectives and organisational priorities, delivering on the 2026–2031 Strategic Plan.
- Lead and develop the executive team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation and high performance.
- Deliver activity against the three core pillars of coordination, commissioning and capacity building.
- Ensure effective corporate governance, risk management and compliance with all legislative, regulatory, funding and contractual obligations.
- Lead the organisation's financial management strategy, ensuring effective stewardship of public funding and long-term financial sustainability.
- Represent SWSPHN at local, regional and national levels, strengthening partnerships and influencing health system reform.
- Foster engagement with clinicians, consumers, all levels of government, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, priority population cohorts and the broader community.
- Champion a values-driven culture built on trust, empathy, courage, fairness, integrity and collaboration.
