This newly created role will lead the design, governance and continuous improvement of AICD’s assessment framework, standards and academic integrity practices across the Education portfolio. Reporting to the Head of Curriculum, the Assessment and Standards Manager will act as the strategic owner of assessment design and standards, working closely with Curriculum, Education Operations and Faculty Operations to ensure assessment approaches are credible, consistent, scalable and aligned to learner outcomes. The role will also lead the evolution of assessment in response to emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, so that AICD continues to generate valid and credible evidence of the applied judgement directors need in the boardroom.
We are looking for someone who thinks differently about assessment, not someone who wants to build a more efficient version of what already exists. This is a role for a genuine innovator: someone with a track record in assessment design, standards or academic governance who has already grappled with what artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies mean for how we assess capability, and who sees the opportunity to design better, more authentic approaches - not simply a threat to guard against. That innovation must be grounded in sound educational judgement and a strong understanding of assessment quality, academic integrity and operational delivery. Just as important as the ideas is the judgement and ability to bring people on the journey with you. This role will build trusted and collaborative cross-functional relationships to influence change across the teams who deliver assessment.

- Substantial experience leading assessment design, standards frameworks, quality assurance or academic governance within professional, tertiary or adult education environments, including the development of approaches that generate credible evidence of applied, real-world capability.
- A well-informed understanding of how artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies are reshaping assessment and learning, with experience supporting assessment transformation, digitisation or product innovation while protecting academic integrity and assessment quality.
- Strong grounding in learning design principles and a clear understanding of how learning outcomes, curriculum and assessment connect.
- Highly developed stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the credibility to build trust and work effectively across Curriculum, Education Operations, Faculty Operations and senior leadership across
- Strong cross-functional influencing and change leadership skills, with the judgement to establish clear roles, responsibilities, decision rights and handovers, navigate competing priorities and build momentum for sustainable change
- The ability to set direction, define standards and lead a framework without formally managing the team executing against it.
- Comfort operating with a high degree of autonomy in a standalone role, particularly in its establishment phase.
- Experience working effectively across a mid-sized, complex organisation.
- Experience with digital assessment tools, learning management systems or assessment technologies will be highly regarded, as will experience developing digital credentialing, certification or badging frameworks.
