Penny Heron

Assistant Head of Research

Penny is the Assistant Head of Research at Derwent, where she provides leadership and oversight on research projects while supporting the strategic development of research capabilities nationally. Based in Melbourne, she brings over 20 years' experience across executive search, talent acquisition, and human resources.


Penny partners with our Industrial, Private Equity and Healthcare practices, delivering comprehensive executive and C-suite level research. Drawing on deep sector knowledge, extensive networks, and a thorough, methodical approach, she identifies and engages high-performing talent. She also mentors and supports Research team members nationally, driving learning and professional development.


Prior to joining Derwent, Penny spent over eight years as Associate Director at Boyden, followed by a period as Consultant at Jo Fisher Executive. Earlier in her career, she held senior associate roles in specialist recruitment before transitioning into human resources, serving as Talent Acquisition Advisor, HR Business Partner and Career Development Specialist at Fenner Conveyors.


Penny holds a Graduate Certificate in Human Resources Management from RMIT and is a certified AESC Researcher/Associate. She has a Bachelor of Science from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.
