Mike is a Managing Partner at Derwent, leading our Mining & Metals practice. Based in Perth, he brings over 20 years of search experience across board and C-suite appointments, and a comprehensive knowledge of the sector – its companies, its cycles, and the leaders who have shaped it.

Mike works with a broad range of organisations, from established mid-tier producers to high-growth companies, advising boards and chief executives on their most consequential leadership decisions, and identifying the talent best placed to deliver their strategic objectives. His deep familiarity with the mining & metals sector means he can assess a candidate's track record with genuine rigour, understanding not just what someone has done, but the context in which they did it and the real impact they delivered. Clients engage him for this precision, and for an honesty and curiosity that makes for sharper briefings, stronger shortlists, and better outcomes.

Prior to joining Derwent in 2008 to help establish our Perth office, Mike spent nearly six years at Michael Page, where he worked within the retail and manufacturing industries and played a central role in establishing their Perth presence.

Mike holds a Master of Commerce in Human Resources and a Bachelor of Commerce in Management and Marketing, both from The University of Western Australia.
