Rapid advances in technology and shifts in consumer behaviour are some of the drivers shaping the energy sector to be a compelling career destination, - particularly at the Australian Energy Market Commission (AEMC), an independent statutory body with two key roles: making and amending rules for the National Electricity Market, elements of the natural gas market and related retail markets; and providing strategic and operational advice to energy Ministers.

This is a rare opportunity for a Senior Lawyer seeking an impactful role embedded in the organisation's core project delivery and operations, and with the scope to engage widely with senior management and external stakeholders. You will be reporting to the General Counsel and have responsibility for providing and managing legal advice to cross-functional teams and have a leadership role within the organisation.

We are seeking a talented professional with a strong understanding of the energy regulatory framework, gained in either industry, private practice or the public sector, and who brings a strategic perspective and an understanding how the legal framework impacts on business goals and customer outcomes.

In this proactive and visible role, it is essential that you have outstanding communication and interpersonal skills and sound judgement in managing complex and sensitive matters.

You'll be joining a high performing organisation in a fast-paced environment. The AEMC offers a strong learning culture and fosters engagement at all levels of the organisation.
