The Victorian Department of Education and Training (DET) brings together a range of services for Victorian children, young people and adults. Sitting within the DET is the Regional Services Group (RSG), which provides an interface between regions and the Department's central office.
RSG is currently seeking to appoint two Regional Directors (RD) for SouthWest and NorthEast Victoria , each with a staff of approximately 350 EFT, 450-500 early childhood settings, 400 government primary and secondary schools and a range of vocational education and training (VET) providers.
The RDs will lead a large team with oversight of the performance and delivery of the Department's regionally based services, ensuring responsive local solutions to implement reform projects and services. They will work with central Groups to ensure that policy design and implementation improves service quality, and will work with the other RDs in the design and delivery of premium state-wide services and programs.
You will develop and maintain strategic regional relationships, networks and partnerships, and help guarantee the learning and development needs of rural areas are given a high priority. You will also act as the delegate of the Secretary as the employer of government school Principals.
To be successful at this critical interface with school Principals, you will have a broad knowledge of learning and development systems (including early childhood, schools and further education), and a proven track record leading complex organisations through transformational change. You will be able to listen, speak publicly, influence and engage confidently with a broad range of stakeholders. You will have political acumen and likely have experience as the Principal of a large school.
This is a fast-paced role and needs someone who can think on their feet and manage multiple complex projects simultaneously, as well as dealing positively and responsively with unpredictability. Accordingly, the role needs good judgement, discernment, credibility and authenticity. You will be expected to work from multiple office locations in the region.
