Job Description

TCA Ltd is owned by Austroads Ltd, the association of Road and Transport Agencies for Australia and New Zealand.

TCA's mission is to provide assurance to governments, industry sectors and end-users in the use of telematics and related intelligent technologies. This will, in turn, enable improved surface transport outcomes in productivity, safety and efficiency.

TCA is currently looking for a new Executive General Manager (EGM) with a successful track record in driving transformational change, who can cultivate a positive work environment and high-performance culture by providing strong leadership and guidance. The role is within a well-established organisation, with the highest calibre colleagues.

The EGM needs excellent stakeholder engagement skills as TCA is a 'cross-cutting' organisation which works across different policy streams, surface transport modes, and government and industry sectors. Accordingly, the EGM needs to be highly adept at managing relationships, with high political nous and a level of comfort having robust conversations without creating adversaries.

The EGM also needs an agile mind. The pace at which technologically-driven changes are influencing public policy deliberations and government decision-making is rapid, so the EGM needs to be comfortable with emerging technologies.

TCA is a relatively small organisation (c.35pax), so the EGM needs to have broad experience across corporate functions and be willing to roll their sleeves up and get involved.

You will certainly have a background as an organisational leader, driving transformation and growing the business. You will likely have experience in the transport industry, tracking technology, ISO / certification, intelligent technologies or logistics. However, we are particularly interested in candidates with diverse backgrounds including (but not limited to) government, regulatory, IP Law, road transport, compliance and enforcement, consultancy and auditor organisations.

You have sound judgement and are a team player. You will have proven analytical and strategic planning skills, and will likely have experience with initiatives that have significant impacts on Government policy, legislation and industry direction. You will have excellent negotiation, influencing and engagement skills and possess the ability to articulate issues, provide effective solutions and present confidently at senior levels within the public and private sectors.

The ideal candidate will show initiative, integrity and personal drive, and can think on their feet. You are able to manage risk and work effectively under pressure and in a changing environment to deliver high-quality advice and outcomes.

Professional / Tertiary qualifications in one or more relevant fields are highly desirable.

NOTE: For a confidential discussion, call Tom Mutch on (03) 9691 1333.

HOW TO APPLY: Please upload BOTH a current Curriculum Vitae (Word format recommended) and a cover letter (maximum of 2 pages) telling us how your skills, knowledge, experience and qualifications make you the best person for the job. Please include your remuneration expectations in your cover letter.

CLOSING DATE: Midday, Friday 22nd February 2019.
