Based in Bundoora, AVS Pty Ltd was established by the Victorian Government in 1986 to provide a commercial interface between its agricultural research and development activities and the private sector. Today, AVS Pty Ltd is widely recognised for protecting and commercialising technologies generated by the Agriculture Victoria Research branch of DJPR to help improve the productivity and competitiveness of Victorian farmers.

Reporting to the CEO, the CFO and Company Secretary has responsibility for the strategic leadership and management of the company's corporate services functions, including finance, company secretarial services, compliance, governance & risk.

Strong and insightful financial management is a cornerstone of the role and regarded as critical in supporting the company's broader strategic approach to maximising the value of its intellectual property. Supporting financial systems under the responsibility of this role must enhance decision making and be capable of meeting the highest standards of internal control.

As Company Secretary you will also be accountable to the Board through the chair on governance matters and the business of the Board. You will perform the duties and responsibilities of a Company Secretary as required by the Corporations Act, the Company's Constitution and any other relevant legislation or regulation.

Accordingly, you will have a highly developed understanding of the duties and responsibilities of a CFO and Company Secretary, including demonstratable experience in the design and implementation of robust corporate governance frameworks, a detailed knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and expert knowledge of financial management, budgeting and performance reporting.

The ideal candidate will have outstanding communication skills and strong attention to detail, presenting in a professional manner to a range of stakeholders. You will also have the capacity to earn credibility quickly.
