The Victorian Department of Education and Training (DET) brings together a range of services for Victorian children, young people and adults. Sitting within the DET is the Regional Services Group (RSG), which provides an interface between regions and the Department's central office, ensuring that policy intent and outcomes are delivered on-the-ground. The Group supports regional partnerships, regional early childhood services, schools and other education providers to deliver high quality services and outcomes.
RSG is currently seeking to appoint an Assistant Deputy Secretary (ADS) to provide high-level authoritative advice to the Deputy Secretary in relation to improving system-wide performance and enhancing operational support. You will lead the coordination and integration of planning, monitoring and evaluation of service delivery across early childhood, schools and skills, with a focus on continuous improvement and systems thinking. This includes the management of / improvement of / reporting on (and not limited to); compliance, complaints, finance, budget, administration and HR.
The ADS will build key relationships within the Department and externally with a multitude of stakeholders, helping develop and implement key reform programs. You will lead a high calibre team to monitor and accelerate state-wide reforms, to ultimately drive improved learning and development outcomes for children and young people across Victoria.
To be successful in this role you need excellent, boundary spanning influencing skills. You need to have a voice and know when to use it, in order to build trust and take people on the journey. You will be analytical, grounded and contributory. You will also take accountability for your work, all the while retaining a sense of where the role sits within the Department.
This is a fast-paced role, and needs someone who can think on their feet, manage multiple complex projects simultaneously and be able to represent the Deputy Secretary at short notice, at the highest levels.
