Job Description

The Office of Energy and Climate Change (OECC) within the Treasury Cluster focusses on some of the most significant issues facing our state, energy reliability, climate change and emissions reduction. The policies, strategies and programs led by OECC are a key pillar of NSW economic policy which will bring enduring benefits to our economy, the environment and the people of NSW. Our mission is to accelerate NSW’s transformation to a sustainable future.

The Strategy & Implementation division coordinates the delivery of NSW Government’s key energy and climate strategic initiatives and has played a central role in developing and driving the implementation of the NSW Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap over the past two years. It also supports the renewable energy sector board and the independent electricity infrastructure jobs advocate and the delivery of NSW Government’s key energy and climate strategic initiatives, including the NSW MoU with the Commonwealth.

The division comprises four branches – Energy Data & Analytics; Governance & Board; Strategic Energy Projects; and Legal Services. The Energy Data & Analytics branch is a centre of expertise and excellence for data evaluation, modelling, analytics, and stewardship.

We are seeking an executive with an outstanding ability to analyse and communicate technical and complex information and provide evidence based insights in ways appropriate to the needs of a diverse range of stakeholders and audiences.

This is a challenging and rewarding role leading a strong team of around 15 staff in a fast paced, dynamic environment with multiple programs and stakeholders. Experience in the energy sector would be ideal.

Remuneration – This role is a PS Senior Executive Band 1 with a remuneration range of $219,028 – $242,658 inclusive of superannuation. Additional benefits include salary packaging and fitness passport available.

Eligibility – To be eligible to apply for ongoing employment within the NSW Treasury, candidates must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident of Australia. The successful candidate will be required to undergo a National Criminal Record Check and provide confirmation of academic qualifications before commencement.
