Beautiful coastal location with excellent salary package and conditions

About the role: The Mid North Coast Local Health District (MNCLHD) extends from Port Macquarie in the south to Coffs Harbour in the north, along the picturesque and popular coastal strip of NSW, and serves a population of 215,000.  It operates across seven hospital sites and ten Community Health Centres, has a workforce of 4,300 and a budget of c$740m. It has a strong and established executive team, which has led significant recent and ongoing investment across the MNCLHD.  It is financially robust, with excellent performance outcomes across its main clinical services, and enjoys strong relationships with its numerous stakeholders and partners. Due to retirement, MNCLHD is now seeking an outstanding District Director, Nursing and Midwifery Services. Reporting to the CE, this person will:

- Provide strategic and operational support to the CE, the executive team and the Board;
- Lead the nursing and midwifery professions across the district and ensure that professional standards are exceeded at all levels;
- Provide professional leadership and direction of nursing and midwifery clinical standards and governance by ensuring accountability for clinical practice and safety requirements through appropriate nursing and midwifery staffing, clinical competence, and evidence-based standards of practice;
- Foster an organisational culture of excellence, innovation and collaboration and oversee workforce planning and people management strategies which attract, recruit, develop and retain the highest quality staff;
- Provide input to the development of strategic and business plans, policy development, business and clinical service strategies including a nursing and midwifery research framework that builds research capability and promotes the application of evidence-based practice;
- Ensure financial responsibility and accountability within nursing and midwifery services and develop strategies that ensure budgetary targets and KPIs are met by facility Directors of Nursing and Midwifery and Nursing and Midwifery Unit Managers;
- Work closely with the MNCLHD executive leadership team, NSW Ministry of Health, other LHDs, Aboriginal and community groups, local government and a diverse range of other stakeholders;
- Ensure that all activities across the organisation are aligned to the values of NSW Health.

About you: We are seeking an experienced clinical leader with a track record of success across a significant scale hospital network or health service.  You may currently hold a DON / EDON or equivalent role; we equally value applications from clinical leaders with experience across complex health systems who are looking to step up to their first district wide leadership role.  You will demonstrate the capacity to work collaboratively across a multi-disciplined organisational landscape and inspire and energise your teams to set new standards in patient care.  You’ll possess strong strategic skills and be passionate about healthcare and its impact on the community.  Critical to your success will be your strong communication and engagement skills and your passion for shaping and elevating the nursing and midwifery professions.

This represents a unique and exciting opportunity to help shape the vision of, and ultimately deliver, world class healthcare across this thriving and growing community.  It also offers the prospect of living in this picturesque coastal region of NSW and becoming part of the friendly and community centred culture which the area is renowned for.
