- Office of Energy and Climate Change
- Accelerate NSW’s transformation to a sustainable future
- Exciting new role leading emissions intensity reduction
The Office of Energy and Climate Change (OECC) within the Treasury Cluster focusses on some of the most significant issues facing our state, energy reliability, climate change and emissions reduction. The policies, strategies and programs led by OECC are a key pillar of NSW economic policy which will bring enduring benefits to our economy, the environment and the people of NSW. Our mission is to accelerate NSW’s transformation to a sustainable future.
Climate Change and Sustainability Division is working to achieve net zero emissions by 2050, building resilience to climate change, creating new jobs and cutting household costs, attracting investment and transitioning to a circular economy. The Division is about facilitating change for the better: reduced carbon emissions, driving the uptake of clean energy technologies, more sustainable organisations, mitigating and increasing resilience to climate change and providing excellence in evidence-based policy advice and development.
The Director Net Zero Industry and Innovation Program – Emissions Intensity Reduction leads the delivery of large programs to support the transformational decarbonisation of heavy industry in a way that meets emission reduction goals and ensures NSW industries and precincts take advantage of the economic opportunities from a low carbon economy. This is fundamentally a partnership approach to develop sustainable solutions with industry.
We are seeking an executive with extensive experience in the corporate or public sector in program development and implementation across a complex portfolio of work related to reducing emissions at high emitting industrial facilities and decarbonising industrial precincts. This includes the preparation of operational strategies, business plans, funding bids, project plans and establishment of appropriate governance.
With responsibility for providing the executive, the Net Zero Emissions and Clean Economy Board and the Minister with advice it’s essential you have demonstrated the ability to represent in high profile forums, and build respectful, trusted and collaborative relationships across government, industry and communities.
This is a rare career opportunity to join a team leading the way on climate change and seizing the opportunities from the transformation to a new low-cost, clean energy economy.
