Job Description

Western Power is Western Australia’s largest electricity utility which builds, owns and operates an integrated transmission and distribution network in Western Australia, known as the Southwest Interconnected System.

Servicing a community of more than two million customers, Western Power is committed to the delivery of a safe, reliable and efficient electricity supply for all its customers. With a workforce of nearly 3,000 employees and assets of approximately $12 billion it is ranked as the fourth largest networks business in Australia.

Western Australia is amid an exciting energy transformation based on commitment to net-zero emission by 2050 and changing community expectations. Western Power is transforming the network using innovation and technology to connect greater renewables on its drive towards a decarbonised future, whilst still ensuring the reliability and safety of its existing infrastructure assets. The Chief Executive Officer is a critical role for the State and will have a significant impact on the current and future energy transmission and distribution market in Western Australia.

Reporting to the Board, the CEO is jointly responsible with the Board for setting the corporate vision and strategy to meet the needs of its shareholders; and leading and enhancing a strong decentralised workforce focused on delivering organisational performance outcomes to ensure Western Power’s long-term success and overall sustainability in a time of rapid and significant sector change.

The CEO role will create value through leadership in the industry and community. A strong focus on customer and employee engagement, risk, safety and environmental performance is essential.

Applications are sought from experienced C-Suite professionals who are strong collaborators and have demonstrated experience in leading through change within a regulated industrial environment, whilst still delivering on present requirements. The ability to manage complex stakeholders and build capability throughout an organisation or division will be essential in your succession.

Applications must be lodged electronically by the 23rd of May. For further enquiries, please email Julie Colvin, Managing Partner at or Harry Clape at A briefing document is available on the Derwent company website:
