The Health and Education (H&E) portfolio is part of Downer’s Facilities and Asset Services Group and partners with organisations across Australia and New Zealand, delivering the full range of services including Catering, Hospitality, Facilities Management, Asset Maintenance and Management, Cleaning, Sustainability Services, Security, Electronic Solutions and Utility Support Services. South Australia is a key region for the Health and Education line of business, running a significant PPP contract for the Royal Adelaide Hospital (RAH) and other contracts including Royal Adelaide Hospital Retail and the Women’s and Children’s Hospital (WCH). The services are offered by Spotless, a Downer Company. The GM Health, SA’s primary accountability is to drive results through strong partnerships, collaborative leadership, and commercial nous. Reporting to the Executive General Manager - Health & Education, this role leads a team of approximately 900 FTEs through 7 direct reports.

As a member of the H&E Executive Team, this role will:

  • Build on the solid foundations laid by the current team;
  • Drive service delivery stakeholder and community engagement for the RAH and WCH, which ultimately supports world class health outcomes for the communities served;
  • Lead a multi-disciplinary team and ensure the achievement of KPIs which include performance, service delivery, commercial management, contract transformation and strategic leadership;
  • Work closely with clients, ensuring the team delivers on current initiatives as well as develops innovative solutions for future growth;
  • As part of the Health and Education leadership team, take collective responsibility for all areas of the portfolio including safety, quality, financial and operational management, profitability and sustained business momentum;
  • Lead, inspire and grow the capability and capacity of the workforce and ensure the teams are skilled and equipped to deliver long term growth for the group;
  • Ensure governance, compliance and risk management structures are robust and optimised;
  • Foster a collaborative culture centred around the delivery of service excellence.

We are seeking a contemporary and inspirational leader who can demonstrate a track record of leading significant service operations across a large, complex and multi-stakeholder environment preferably in a hospital, health or related setting. Strong financial management skills are essential as is the ability to work collaboratively within a partnership model with the RAH and WCH leadership and operational teams. You will possess highly adept communication skills, be comfortable operating at the most senior level and working with a diverse range of partners and stakeholders including government, unions and community groups. You will understand government relationships and programs and have the capacity to deliver to the highest level.
