Role Outline

Southern NSW Local Health District (SNSWLHD) delivers health care across an area of 44,534 square kilometres, from Goulburn and Crookwell to the Victorian border and surrounds the ACT on three sides. It extends from the beaches of the NSW South Coast, the farmlands of the Southern Tablelands, across the Great Dividing Range and the Snowy Mountains. SNSWLHD serves a permanent population of over 210,000 and is also responsible for providing sustainable healthcare to the 5 million tourists who visit the area annually. It has an annual budget of $470m, employs over 3,000 staff and delivers healthcare services across more than 20 facilities. SNSWLHD is led by an experienced Chief Executive (CE) and her leadership team who have recently implemented a major restructure of the organisation. SNSWLHD is now seeking an inspirational and contemporary Director People and Wellbeing to support the team and organisation on its next phase.

The Director People and Wellbeing is a key member of the executive leadership team and reports to the CE. This role leads the development and implementation of strategic objectives related to the management of people from a developmental, cultural and transactional perspective. It provides authoritative counsel and advice to the LHD Executive and senior stakeholders on all workforce matters, and directs workforce functions to ensure service delivery and workplace culture is aligned to the overall achievement of the LHD goals. Leading a direct team of 5 and a larger distributed team, you will drive an agile, responsive and contemporary organisational culture. You will lead, plan and implement people related programs and reforms which underpin the performance of the organisation and ultimately ensure that the highest levels of service and care is provided to patients and communities. Critical to your success will be your ability to foster a workplace culture which is inclusive, collaborative, engaged and accountable.

About you

To succeed in this role, you’ll possess a track record of HR executive leadership gained within a complex, customer focused, multi-site organisation. This experience may have been gained within the public or private sector, however experience working within or at the intersection of government in your recent career may be advantageous. Critical to your success will be your demonstrable track record of leading transformative cultural change across an organisation. You’ll be an outstanding communicator with excellent stakeholder skills and a natural ability to influence and engage at all levels.
