Job Description

Mid West Ports Authority (MWPA) is responsible for the efficient, safe and effective operation of Western Australia’s most diverse port, the Port of Geraldton. It caters for the export of grain, minerals and livestock, and imports of fuel, fertiliser and general cargo, whilst also welcoming cruise ships, oil rig tenders and other special purpose vessels. MWPA is a Government Trading Enterprise that plays an essential service for Regional Australia and Australia’s economy through providing inter-modal facilities that connects the regions to national and international markets. In addition, MWPA manages Geraldton’s Fishing Boat Harbour. The Board and management are focused on developing the Port toward a long-term, sustainable future, to achieve growth and development whilst operating in balance with the environment and community expectations.

Reporting to the Board, the CEO is responsible for the continued growth and sustainability of the organisation ensuring the Port actively pursues and facilitates trade and enables regional prosperity in line with their overall vision, mission and values. This position provides strategic advice and recommendations to the Board and manages all the physical and human resources whilst actively promoting a positive culture within the organisation.
As CEO you will lead the organisation in their commitment to their purpose of providing a sustainable gateway to trade and tourism and look to fulfil this commitment safely and reliably whilst being transparent in providing exceptional service to customers, value to stakeholder and employees, all whilst operating sustainably with the community and the environment into the future.

We are seeking a dynamic leader with substantial leadership and experience managing a complex operational business. Applicants are encouraged from a range of sectors including ports, industrial, infrastructure, logistics, resources or similar environments. Your experience may have been gained through either CEO or General Management level positions with demonstrated capability across stakeholder management and the ability to build high performing teams whilst exhibiting a strong commitment to personal integrity, accountability and professional ethos. Relevant degree qualifications are considered a pre-requisite for the role and post graduate qualifications desirable.

This is a unique opportunity to continue to build an organisation that is looking at future development opportunities across their assets that support local industries, tourism and diversifying revenue streams. This role will predominately be based in Geraldton however business mobility, in particular to Perth, will be required as part of the role.
